Information and Features about Sony DSC-H50

by Corwin Brown

Sony has announced a successor to its DSC-H9 ’super zoom’ digital camera in the form of the 9.0 megapixel Cyber-Shot DSC-H50. As well as the inevitable rise in pixel count the H50 has several improvements over its predecessor, including an ED lens element, user-selectable noise reduction, white balance and color mode bracketing, and an upgraded DRO function. It also has an improved sports mode and, last but by no means least, Sony’s unique ’smile shutter’ and adult- or child-priority face detection.

Stylistically, the new camera is much in keeping with other recent offerings in the H line, presenting a mini-DSLR look with an offset lens barrel and prominent hand grip.

The H50 comes equipped with Sony's Advanced Sports Shooting mode that we've seen recently on other higher-end cameras from the manufacturer. Using the expected high shutter speeds in addition to a predictive auto focus system, previous implementations of the mode have made for easier action shooting than is normally the case for a non-DSLR.

The camera also features a large, 3-inch tilting LCD screen so you can shoot comfortably from nearly any position, at low and high angles. Its scratch-resistant, UV hard-coat finish adds a premium look and feel that mirrors the performance of the model.

The DSC-H50 also features Super Steady Shot, Night Shot, D-Range Optimizer, smile recognition, faces detection and has an advanced sports shooting mode that will offer shutter speeds up to 1/4000 of a second with continuous auto-focusing.

Its improved “advanced sports” shooting mode now employs a system to apply higher shutter speeds, up to 1/4000 of a second, more frequently than on previous models. This mode combines high shutter speeds with predictive continuous auto-focusing so you can quickly focus and capture fast-moving subjects with minimal shutter lag basically the time it takes for the camera to focus and shoot.

The camera also incorporates intelligent features that help you take better pictures more easily. They include improved smile shutter and face detection technologies with child or adult priority recognition, as well as, intelligent scene recognition with standard and advanced modes to analyze shooting conditions and select the optimal setting automatically.

Sony DSC-H50 Features:-

* Carl Zeiss 15x optical zoom lens

* Super Steady shot optical image stabilization

* 3" tilting LCD display

* Scratch-resistant, UV hard-coat finish

* Advanced Sports Shooting Mode (up to 1/4000 of a second)

* Versatile, long-distance flash

* Extensive manual controls

* Smile shutter and face detection technologies with child or adult priority recognition

* Night Shot technology

Keep Your Music Ultra Portable With the Right iPod Shuffle Accessories

What's the Point of Having a Tiny iPod Shuffle Then Tying It Down With a Big Speaker Docking System?

Apple's iPod shuffle, the most miniature version of the popular iPod available, is one of the most popular products for the portable music enthusiast. The earbud headphones that come with the iPod shuffle are good enough to make your on the go experience enjoyable, but there are many other iPod shuffle accessories which can further enhance your music listening experience.

Headphones and Speakers

Headphones are without a doubt one of the most popular iPod shuffle accessories. While the earbud headphones that come with it are good enough for many users, others prefer different headphones, either because they find the earbuds uncomfortable or because they want headphones that deliver crisper audio. Any headphones that use a 3.5mm stereo minijack will work with the iPod shuffle, from traditional over-the-ear headphones to simply different earbuds. After all, sometimes headphones break and you need replacements; fortunately there's no lack of selection, and decent-quality headphones can easily be found for under $10 a pair.

Speakers are another popular iPod shuffle accessory. Speaker technology has gotten to the point where crisp, power speakers come in small enough sizes that you won't feel silly hooking them up to the miniscule iPod shuffle. It is very important to remember that the iPod shuffle only has the minijack as an interface; this means that accessories like docking station speakers won't work with the iPod shuffle, because it lacks the standard iPod docking port. Only a speaker dock specifically designed to pass power through the minijack, like the shuffle's own included dock, will work with it.

Other iPod Shuffle Accessories

Also popular is the car charger. This iPod shuffle accessory plugs into your car's power adapter or cigarette lighter to deliver power to your shuffle to keep it charged while on the go. You can also find cables, connectors, or even FM transmitters that let you listen to your iPod shuffle over your car's stereo system, letting you listen to your music while you drive without worrying about the dangers of having your headphones on in the car.

An interesting accessory for anybody who spends a lot of their time on the go is the USB Travel Dock from Marware. This simple accessory is nothing more than a dock for the iPod shuffle connected directly to a USB connector, without the wire between the two that the standard dock comes with. While it may not sound like much, this iPod shuffle accessory will be appreciated by anybody who normally plugs their dock into their laptop and wants to have fewer cables around to get tangled up.

In the end, the use and perceived value that you get from your iPod shuffle is up to you. While the shuffle by itself is a great value, you can get much more out of it if you're willing to spend a little more on some iPod shuffle accessories. The great thing is that because the iPod shuffle only plays music, you don't have to worry about accessories that play video or scratch-resistant coverings for the video screen. In the end, every available iPod shuffle accessory has only one purpose: to help you listen to your music the way you want to.

Book Review: I. M. Heart By Sue P. McDaniel

I. M. Heart is a rather curious little 'self help' book, it is cut from a different cloth. It advocates a strategy for dealing with life's trials and tribulations that at first sight is 180 degrees away from what most authors say. Sue McDaniel tells us to think from and with your heart, let your heart make the decisions. Most books take the opposite approach, 'decide with your head, do not let your heart rule you.'

Actually what the author is saying is that by understanding your emotions you can use them to your advantage when dealing with situations. Sue explores this theory through the use of a small heart shaped character I. M. Heart. I.M. Heart represents all of us – who are learning to be aware of and process feelings coming from both love and fear. Sue believes that in our hearts we hold all kinds of feelings. These include loving, dear, joyful feelings as well as fearful, angry, hateful feelings.

It is via this little guy that we get to learn about Love, Fear, Hate, and many other emotions. When you are consciously aware of these emotions you can learn to channel them and maybe even more importantly, understand them, and the effect they are having.

Sue shows how you can take the fear out of fear, and hate, what is that? By learning to understand your feelings you can learn much about yourself, and maybe just as important, the world and people around you.

I. M. Heart is a quick read, it is only 100 pages, and many have illustrations on them. But don't be fooled by the size, the text contains a wealth of information in it. The book consists of ten chapters, with each chapter exploring a particular aspect, and subtlety offers suggestions to the reader as to how to incorporate the ideas into their own lives. Those 10 chapters are devoted to: recognizing your feelings; processing them; healing fear, hurts and pains; feeling love and loving yourself; connecting to spirit; and connecting to others with heart.

This is Sue McDaniel's first solo work in the book world, but she is no novice, during the 1990’s she co-authored five basic books and Learning, Changing and Leading: Keys to Success in the 21st Century, with Chet Dixon. This book and the workbooks accompanying it were used as teaching tools in the state of Missouri.

If I have a criticism of I. M. Heart it would be about its complexity. Although the text is short the message at times is complex. In someways Sue McDaniel might have achieved a greater effect by writing a longer book. One that permitted a more simplistic approach to the execution and explanation of the concepts.

Sue McDaniel has a background in developing corporate culture and has spent many years consulting with companies large and small. She has developed training materials and delivered programs for government agencies, businesses, and organizations at the state, national, and international level. She has a web site dedicated to I. M. Heart, and you can purchase the book from Amazon.
